FAQs, cleaning, and designing with Cattleya plants:
- Most tropicals like our faux Cattleya blooming stem are made with combinations of plastic, polyester, and wire
- Artificial stems ship flat but are bendable into more realistic shapes
- Occasionally dust your stems with a feather duster. You can wipe it with a damp cloth. Do not submerge in water
- The base stems are sometimes thick and wood-like. Trim with sturdy wire cutters
- You’ll want to anchor your orchid plants in dry floral foam. Dry floral foam does not hold water and offers a sturdy base to hold your plants
- You may hot glue your floral foam to your container interior, although if you’re not mailing or moving your arrangement, it’s not necessary
- Cover your floral foam with dry moss, pebbles, or bark
- Now the fun starts. Insert as many faux orchid plants into your container as will fit
- Don’t forget orchid flowers
- Include other epiphyte (air plants) such as bromeliad, Spanish moss and other orchid varieties
