FAQs, cleaning, and designing with artificial Tillandsia, Xerographica, and air plants:
- Most faux tillandsia such as our artificial Spanish moss are made with combinations of plastic, polyester, and wire
- Occasionally dust your arrangements with a feather duster
- Damp cleaning is not recommended for plants that are flocked
- Plastic air plants can be washed with water and air-dried
- The base stems are often short and sturdy. Trim with wire cutters
- You might want to anchor your air plants in dry floral foam. Dry floral foam does not hold water and offers a sturdy base to hold your plants
- You may hot glue your floral foam to your container interior, although if you’re not mailing or moving your arrangement, it’s not necessary
- Cover your floral foam with dry moss, pebbles, or decorative sand
- This Spanish moss plant is not designed for full sun, although it will work outdoors on shaded patios and porches
